What you will do

  • Test and commission utility substation equipment, protection and control systems, and electrical systems.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and problem analysis involving equipment malfunctions, wiring and drawing errors, battery ground faults, and questionable test results.
  • Execute electrical equipment tests, analyze results, and prepare, review, approve, file, and distribute detailed test reports.
  • Maintain accurate project drawings, daily and weekly reports, test records, and project completion documentation.
  • Participate in project meetings, formal walkdowns, commissioning, startup, circuit isolation, and equipment restoration activities.
  • Follow site risk assessments and safety procedures during high-risk construction, commissioning, and energization work.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent training and experience, such as journeyman apprentice electrician training, military electrical programs, or NETA Level 3 or 4 certification.
  • Beginning-level knowledge of electrical systems and a solid understanding of AC/DC schematics, wiring and interconnect drawings, and one-line and three-line diagrams.
  • Ability to learn test-equipment software and accurately document testing activities.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Valid United States driver's license issued by the state of residence and in good standing.
  • Must be available for flexible hours, including weekends, overtime, holidays, night work, and extended out-of-town travel; able to lift up to 50 pounds of test equipment and operate or learn to operate a man-lift.
