Contracts Attorney (Insurance)

Location: Hybrid in Austin, Texas; Dallas, Texas; or Morristown, New Jersey, United States

Base pay: $167,500–$245,000 annually for the Morristown location.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate reinsurance, program administration, and claims agreements.
• Assess contract wording, interpretation trends, insurance risks, and potential mitigation options.
• Create processes for capturing, addressing, and escalating wording issues.
• Make and implement decisions based on available information, approvals, and risk assessments.
• Work with underwriting peers, reinsurers, management, and other departments to identify and communicate critical issues.
• Operate autonomously while supporting efficient, proactive, and collaborative contract management.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school or an international equivalent.
• Licensed to practice law and a member in good standing, or able to immediately reactivate membership, in at least one U.S. state.
• At least 4 years of experience drafting reinsurance agreements, program administration agreements, or related agreements.
• Experience reviewing and negotiating insurance agreements and evaluating related risks.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
