Corporate Counsel

Location: Chicago, Illinois, USA; hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week, Monday through Thursday.

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 per year, adjusted based on experience, training, geographic location, licensure, certifications, market factors, budget, and responsibilities.

What you will do

• Review, revise, and negotiate commercial agreements with providers of IT, marketing, advertising, SaaS, AI products, business process outsourcing, and EdTech services.
• Advise procurement professionals and business stakeholders on contract interpretation, vendor relationships, and dispute resolution.
• Draft, review, and negotiate lease-related documents and contracts with architects, engineers, general contractors, brokers, and other real estate service providers.
• Support real estate matters for five Title IV institutions and hirify.global’s U.S. corporate real estate portfolio.
• Develop and maintain contract and real estate templates, playbooks, negotiation guides, clause libraries, and other business guidance documents.
• Collaborate across legal, business, procurement, and operational functions on special projects and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• 4+ years of experience practicing as an attorney in a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements and directly advising clients.
• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, analytical, interpretation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients at all organizational levels, including senior management, and to work independently under deadlines.
• Must be in good standing with the Illinois State Bar.

Nice to have

• Experience creating contract templates, playbooks, negotiation guides, clause libraries, and other contract review tools.
• Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the contract lifecycle.
