TL;DR
Machine Operator (Aerospace Manufacturing) (3- and 4-axis CNC milling/grinding): Operating, adjusting, and maintaining CNC mills and grinders to produce high-quality aerospace and defense components with an accent on machine setup, manual control adjustments, and product compliance. Focus on troubleshooting equipment, interpreting production and engineering prints, maintaining lead times, and supporting Lean manufacturing initiatives.

Location: Auburn, California; onsite manufacturing environment. Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Candidates outside the Bay Area may relocate to the Auburn area with a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000; new hires may also receive a separate $1,000 sign-on bonus. Only US Persons will be considered where access to Controlled Data or Information is required under ITAR.

Salary: $26.00–$44.12 per hour.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies engineered systems and components for aerospace and defense applications, including flow-control products for mission-critical engine and APU systems.

What you will do

  • Set up, adjust, and operate 3- and 4-axis CNC mills, grinders, and related inspection tools.
  • Make manual machine-interface and control adjustments to optimize performance and validate product compliance.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and manage machine consumables.
  • Support lead-time commitments, customer requirements, and Lean initiatives including 5S, KPIs, standard work, and problem solving.
  • Generate non-conformance reports, maintain routine records, and provide shift-status reports.
  • Follow OSHA and company safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of machine-shop experience, including experience with a 3- or 4-axis CNC mill; grinding experience is highly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret specifications, production and engineering prints, planning information, and assembly aids.
  • Problem-solving, troubleshooting, basic machine-maintenance, and shop-computation skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work safely in repetitive, noisy, dusty, oily, hot, or chemical-exposure conditions; lift and push up to 25 pounds.
  • US Person eligibility may be required for controlled technical data access under ITAR.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of machine and tool design, repair, maintenance, raw materials, production processes, and quality control.
  • Aerospace or regulated manufacturing experience.
