TL;DR
Senior Electrical Engineer (Aerospace) (high-altitude balloon systems): Designing, prototyping, testing, and integrating electrical systems for stratospheric balloon vehicles with an accent on PCB design, battery packs, BMS, and hardware reliability. Location: Denver, Colorado; must be located near Denver, CO. Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.

hirify.global is a venture-backed aerospace startup developing, operating, and selling stratospheric balloon systems for applications including wildfire monitoring, urban mapping, and government missions.

What you will do

  • Lead the design, development, and testing of electrical systems for high-altitude balloons.
  • Develop custom battery packs, battery management systems, and support UN testing.
  • Own PCB schematic capture, layout reviews, design documentation, and vendor interactions.
  • Create and execute test plans to validate hardware performance and reliability.
  • Build and modify boards for rapid prototyping and integrate electrical systems with mechanical and firmware subsystems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues during development, integration, and flight operations while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in electrical system design, prototyping, and testing.
  • Proficiency with PCB design tools such as Altium.
  • Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design.
  • Experience using laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, power supplies, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills; US citizenship or permanent residency and location near Denver are required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with aerospace or high-reliability systems.
  • RF interference and cross-talk management experience.
  • Battery pack integration and management systems experience, including BQ configuration.
  • Environmental testing experience involving thermal, vibration, or vacuum conditions.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, firmware development, or FPGA programming.
