TL;DR
Senior Electrical Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and integrating electrical subsystems, PCBAs, and payload hardware for satellite navigation systems with an accent on power distribution, communication interfaces, reliability, and space-qualified design. Focus on taking designs from schematic through layout, lab bring-up, debugging, system testing, and satellite integration.

Location: Burlingame, California, United States; on-site

Salary: $173,000–$197,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

  • Design and own electrical subsystems including power distribution, communications, and fault detection, isolation, and recovery.
  • Develop reliable PCBAs, select and derate components, and validate designs for space environments.
  • Lead the design cycle from requirements, schematics, layout, and multidisciplinary reviews through test-plan execution.
  • Bring up, troubleshoot, and debug electrical systems in the laboratory using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power meters, and related equipment.
  • Support assembly, integration, system testing, validation, and satellite payload integration.
  • Document designs, define electrical interfaces, mentor engineers, and improve engineering practices and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, power systems, signal integrity, PCB layout, and design for test and manufacturing.
  • Experience with embedded control systems using FPGAs, MCUs, and communication buses such as I2C, SPI, CAN, RS-422, and Ethernet.
  • At least 5 years of experience taking designs from schematic and layout through manufacturing, testing, and system integration.
  • Proficiency with electrical design and simulation tools such as Altium, OrCAD, and SPICE, plus hands-on hardware bring-up, board troubleshooting, and test automation.
  • For the U.S. role, applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or other protected individuals under applicable U.S. export regulations.

Nice to have

  • Experience with satellite systems, bus avionics, or payload electronics.
  • Knowledge of space radiation effects, space design practices, and EMI/EMC mitigation.
  • Experience with reliability methods including worst-case circuit analysis, component derating, and FMEA.
