Application Engineer 3 (24x7) (AWS/Linux Operations): Supporting application systems and watchfloor operations for automated security evaluation, continuous monitoring, and network data gathering with an accent on application reliability, systems administration, and cloud operations. Focus on monitoring dashboards and logs, troubleshooting dataflows and service degradation, and maintaining 24/7 support across rotating shifts.
Location: Ft. Meade, Maryland, United States; on-site. Rotating 24/7 shifts: 6 AM–6 PM and 6 PM–6 AM.
Salary: $64.39–$87.19 per hour.

What you will do
- Monitor application systems, dashboards, metrics, logs, alerts, and service status to maintain reliability and prevent downtime.
- Identify service degradation, failed dataflows, system errors, and application issues during watchfloor operations, escalating incidents as needed.
- Perform basic Linux administration, including service control, log review, resource validation, and safe server reboots.
- Support AWS operations through the AWS Console and CLI, including EC2 health checks, server restarts, and operational troubleshooting.
- Develop capabilities that automate security evaluation and authorization, continuous monitoring, assessment, and network data gathering across the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to application support through configuration changes, code changes, performance monitoring, and proactive troubleshooting.
Requirements
- United States citizenship and an appropriate security clearance are required, including TS/SCI with an agency-appropriate polygraph.
- At least 10 years of relevant technical experience with a high school diploma/GED, or fewer years with an associate's, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree according to the stated experience scale.
- Experience in one or more of monitoring and watchfloor operations, Linux systems administration, AWS operations, dataflow/application support, or DevOps.
- Relevant tools may include Grafana, Kibana, Splunk, CloudWatch, AWS, Lambda, Apache NiFi, Cribl, Kafka, Logstash, Terraform, Ansible, GitLab Pipelines, and Docker.
