Line Mechanic C-A

Location: New Haven, Indiana; candidates must live within a 45-minute safe driving distance of the assigned service center. Regular overtime, on-call response, and out-of-town travel may be required.

Salary: $30.12–$56.36 per hour

What you will do

• Install, maintain, remove, and inspect overhead and underground conductors, cables, transformers, fixtures, structures, and related equipment.
• Work on energized conductors and equipment under the required level of supervision as qualifications progress.
• Test, de-energize, ground, splice, terminate, troubleshoot, repair, and energize URD cable and equipment.
• Build equipment mountings and overhead transformer installations.
• Perform switching and tagging procedures, line inspections, and troubleshooting.
• Direct assisting employees and complete monthly apprentice cards for supervision review.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of distribution electrical power line experience or qualifying line school and internship experience for the C classification.
• For external candidates entering the A classification: at least four years of line work experience and successful completion of the journeyman pre-assessment.
• Successful completion of apprentice lineman training, including the B-200 written certification test with a score of at least 80% and hands-on demonstrations.
• Valid Class A CDL required.
• Ability to complete a physical abilities assessment and perform heavy physical work involving forces of up to 100 pounds.
