Line Mechanic (Newtown, CT

Location: Newtown, Connecticut; must live within one hour of the reporting location

Salary: Starting at $56.32 per hour, progressing according to the union contract

What you will do

• Construct, operate, and maintain the electric distribution system.
• Install, repair, and maintain overhead and underground power lines and auxiliary equipment.
• Work aloft on utility poles and on ground- and pad-mounted structures.
• Perform rubber gloving on high-voltage distribution systems up to 23 kV.
• Direct the work of other coworkers when assigned.
• Respond to trouble calls and emergency restoration assignments, including work outside normal responsibilities, hours, and locations.

Requirements

• At least one year of line mechanic experience for the fully qualified position.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to skillfully climb poles using lineman’s climbers.
• Ability to hold and possess a Commercial Driver’s License and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
• Physical ability to perform the essential duties of the role and effective communication skills.
• Must be available for overtime and emergency work and live within one hour of the reporting location.
