TL;DR
Precision Grinder - First Shift (HLG) (Aerospace): Operating manual and CNC precision grinding equipment to produce aerospace and defense components according to blueprints and engineering specifications with an accent on GD&T, precision measurement, and process traceability. Focus on maintaining tight tolerances, adjusting grinding processes, verifying hardware with specialized gauges, and supporting safe, efficient manufacturing operations.

Location: Onsite in Burbank, California, United States. First shift is Monday–Friday, 5:30 AM–2:00 PM; overtime may change start times or extend the workday, and weekend work may be required. Where controlled data or information access is required, only US Persons will be considered under ITAR requirements.

Hourly base rate: Level I $29.39–$37.29, Level II $36.28–$46.89, or Level III $42.70–$54.65. Level is determined by experience and qualifications. A one-time $3,000 sign-on bonus is available to eligible new hires.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components for aerospace and defense applications, including aircraft, satellites, missiles, unmanned aerial systems, and medical devices.

What you will do

  • Operate manual and basic CNC cylindrical OD and surface grinders to produce parts to blueprint and engineering specifications.
  • Set up, maintain, troubleshoot, and adjust grinding equipment according to qualification level.
  • Use micrometers, air gauges, laser micrometers, profilometers, camber gauges, and other specialized equipment to verify dimensions, cylindricity, and surface finish.
  • Calculate machine offsets, clearances, taper, and related characteristics to maintain precise process control.
  • Complete inspection and in-process verification records to ensure product traceability.
  • Escalate safety, tooling, equipment, and quality issues and support other associates with process training and documentation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, gaging practices, grinding media, and related computations.
  • Mechanical aptitude demonstrated through work, school, or another adjacent environment.
  • Level II requires at least two years of experience with precision ground assemblies; Level III requires at least five years.
  • Manual and CNC grinding experience is required for Level II and Level III; machine shop experience is preferred for Level I.
  • US Person eligibility may be required for controlled data access under ITAR.

Nice to have

  • CNC grinding equipment experience with FANUC or equivalent controls.
