Principal Software Architect (Digital Surgery)

What you will do

• Define and own the software architecture for the AEOSx Digital Surgery product line, including surgical visualization, imaging, data management, cybersecurity, and robotic integration.
• Establish architecture standards, governance, technology roadmaps, and reusable software platforms across the organization.
• Define software architecture and data strategies for cloud-based digital surgery applications and digital health capabilities.
• Serve as the technical authority and collaborate with Engineering, Systems Engineering, Product Management, Quality, Regulatory, and R&D.
• Lead architectural reviews, technical trade-off analyses, system integration, and compliance activities for secure, high-performing medical-device software.
• Mentor software engineers and collaborate with R&D Scientists on advanced technology initiatives and product roadmaps.

Requirements

• 12+ years of related hardware, software, or systems experience with a Bachelor’s degree; alternatively, 10+ years with a Master’s degree or 8+ years with a PhD.
• Significant experience leading software architecture efforts and strong communication skills.
• Professional programming experience with C++ and object-oriented design.
• Experience developing regulated medical-device software according to IEC 62304, FDA Design Controls, ISO 13485, and related standards.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git and knowledge of standard programming practices.
• Working knowledge of Scrum or other Agile methodologies, as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or equivalent tools.
