TL;DR
Automation Engineer I (Industrial Automation): Designing, programming, assembling, installing, and commissioning electrical controls for machines and tooling systems with an accent on PLC, HMI, robot, and vision programming. Location: On-site at the Machine Development Center in Schofield, Wisconsin, United States; minimum travel to Greenheck facilities is required.

Starting base pay: $77,235–$95,408 per year.

What you will do

  • Design, program, assemble, wire, install, and commission electrical controls for machines and tooling systems.
  • Build electrical panels, create schematics and cabinet layouts in AutoCAD Electrical, and develop project parts lists and bills of materials.
  • Write low- to medium-complexity PLC, HMI, robot, and vision programs using various software packages.
  • Integrate hydraulic and pneumatic systems, IT application integrations, safety devices, and machine guarding strategies.
  • Manage small to medium machine installations, including installation support and training for maintenance and manufacturing personnel.
  • Troubleshoot and support automation and controls systems after machine installation.

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Technology, Automation Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical drafting software.
  • Basic motion programming and PLC/HMI/robot programming knowledge.
  • Knowledge of industrial control safety standards, the National Electrical Code, OSHA 1910, or NFPA 70E safety requirements.
  • Ability to work on-site in Schofield, Wisconsin, and travel to Greenheck facilities as required.
