TL;DR
Technical Lead - Controls Engineering (HVAC controls, PLC, and DDC systems): Leading the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of electrical and HVAC control systems with an accent on controls architecture, programming, engineering standards, and system reliability. Focus on reviewing complex control strategies, solving significant technical issues through root-cause analysis, and advancing automation technologies and reusable engineering practices.

Location: Redmond, Oregon, United States; work is performed in office and manufacturing environments with occasional travel for commissioning, testing, and field support.

Salary: $111,348–$167,023 per year.

What you will do

  • Provide technical leadership for electrical and HVAC control systems, PLC programming, DDC controls, and automation systems.
  • Define the technical vision, roadmap, architectures, design practices, and engineering standards for controls technologies.
  • Review complex control architectures, sequences of operation, control strategies, electrical designs, drawings, and schematics.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for significant technical issues while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and safety regulations.
  • Research and implement technologies that improve reliability, efficiency, manufacturability, serviceability, and product performance.
  • Mentor controls engineers through technical coaching, design feedback, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 6 years of experience in electrical controls engineering or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical controls architecture, sequences of operation, and controls integration.
  • Expertise in PLC and DDC programming; knowledge of the Carel platform is preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, leadership, mentoring, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of NEC, UL, NFPA, ASHRAE, and other applicable standards, plus the ability to work safely in manufacturing environments.
