Safety & Belgium Fire Protection Engineer

Location: Groot-Bijgaarden, Belgium; onsite work across the site and Belgian operations

What you will do

• Lead and continuously improve safety and prevention programmes across the Groot-Bijgaarden site.
• Manage and optimize fire protection systems, including detection, sprinkler, extinguishing and gas detection systems.
• Act as the Belgian operations fire protection expert, supporting sites, audits and engineering or investment projects.
• Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations and root cause analyses, and develop preventive action plans.
• Coordinate emergency response plans, first intervention teams, exercises, external authorities and fire brigades.
• Deliver safety training, coach stakeholders and ensure safety governance throughout CAPEX and engineering projects.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or equivalent technical or scientific qualification.
• Certified Prevention Advisor Level 2.
• 3–5 years of Health & Safety experience, preferably in manufacturing or an industrial environment.
• Experience or strong affinity with fire protection systems, fire prevention or process safety.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, autonomy and hands-on problem-solving skills.
• Fluent Dutch and good working knowledge of French and English required.
