Sr Industrial Designer (Automotive)

Location: Trussville, Alabama, United States; office or production/manufacturing environment depending on assignment.

What you will do

• Lead the design process for up-fitted vehicles, including sketching, prototyping, and 3D modeling.
• Create high-resolution, photo-realistic renders for design reviews, sketch underlays, and marketing content.
• Develop innovative solutions that improve vehicle functionality and aesthetics while considering new technologies, materials, and manufacturing constraints.
• Coordinate multiple projects with engineering, manufacturing, product management, sales, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Present design concepts and prototypes to clients and stakeholders and translate customer needs into design solutions.
• Guide and mentor junior designers through feedback and professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of industrial design experience, preferably focused on automotive or heavy machinery.
• Advanced 3D modeling skills and proficiency with Alias, SolidWorks, Rhino, VRed, or similar software.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and constraints, including vacuum forming and injection molding.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating innovative designs and successful projects.
• Strong communication, presentation, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Photoshop or equivalent software.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
