Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: South Jordan, Utah, USA; in-office five days per week. Relocation assistance is available.

What you will do

• Develop mechanical concepts and designs for new and existing consumer products.
• Design mechanisms, drive systems, sheet metal parts, injection-molded plastic housings, and other components.
• Integrate mechanical and electrical subsystems while meeting customer, industrial design, marketing, cost, and schedule requirements.
• Manage multiple design projects, prepare schedules and cost estimates, and participate in design reviews.
• Identify root causes, execute risk-reduction measures, and test designs for functionality and reliability.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and design partners to ensure manufacturability and smooth production ramps; mentor other engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of applicable mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience designing consumer electromechanical products such as crafting machines, inkjet printers, medical devices, or similar products.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD, preferably Creo, and engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS or MATLAB.
• Knowledge of robotics, kinematics, dynamics, mechatronics, mechanism design, injection-molded plastics, tooling, sheet metal, rapid prototyping, manufacturing processes, and GD&T.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
