TL;DR
SolidWorks Designers (Packaged Equipment and Plant Design): Creating 3D models, assemblies, layouts, and production drawings for modular packaged equipment systems with an accent on piping, weldments, structural and mechanical integration, and BOM-driven manufacturing documentation. Focus on interpreting engineering specifications and diagrams, routing pipes, designing skids, reviewing models, and delivering accurate drawings for purchasing and production.
Location: Houston, TX (TAS-Cullen HQ); full-time position with 80%–95% desk-based work at the facility

's TAS division designs and manufactures modular packaged systems for data centers, power, and commercial and industrial utility applications.
What you will do
- Interpret piping and instrument diagrams, site layouts, equipment layouts, process flow diagrams, specifications, bills of materials, and general arrangement drawings.
- Create and maintain 3D models, equipment layouts, assemblies, mating surfaces, exploded views, and library-based component designs in SolidWorks.
- Produce section views and production layouts with bills of materials, callouts, and dimensions.
- Review scope documents and specifications to verify designs against customer requirements and engineering intent.
- Maintain drafting schedules, ensure deliverable accuracy, and coordinate with designers, engineers, purchasing, and production teams.
- Execute the design process from inception to closure and participate in model reviews with assistance as needed.
Requirements
- 8+ years of mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls design experience relevant to manufactured packaged equipment.
- Strong SolidWorks experience, including production-level modeling and drawing tasks with limited direction.
- Experience with weldments, pipe routing, skid design, piping, and package or plant layouts.
- Knowledge of technical applications, maintenance, operation, and clearance constraints for structural, mechanical, controls, and electrical equipment systems.
- Awareness of applicable NEC, IEC, ASME, AISC, AWS, UMC, OSHA, and building codes.
- High school diploma; experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
Nice to have
- Associate degree in a technical discipline or graphic design.
- Experience in HVAC, piping design, and industrial plant design.
