Industrial Designer

Location: San Francisco, CA — Hybrid; must be within a commutable distance of hirify.global’s San Francisco studio

Salary: $70,000–$80,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Develop physical product designs and systems while balancing form, function, technical constraints, user needs, and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers, software developers, visual and interaction designers, brand strategists, researchers, and other disciplines.
• Communicate concepts through sketches, CAD models, renderings, physical mock-ups, and compelling client presentations.
• Lead and contribute to human-centered research that informs design strategies.
• Create and test prototypes at varying fidelities using 3D printing and other rapid prototyping methods.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration, contribute to projects lasting 12+ weeks, mentor designers, and explore generative AI and other digital tools.

Requirements

• 1–2+ years of industrial design experience plus internships, including end-to-end contributions to consumer products, medical devices, soft goods, or packaging.
• Fluency with SolidWorks, Rhino, KeyShot, Blender, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience with go-to-market workstreams in multidisciplinary teams.
• Expertise in prototyping, including 3D printing and other rapid prototyping methods.
• Strong visual storytelling, graphic design, deck-building, and 3D-making skills.
• Understanding of design for manufacturing and experience in consumer electronics, medical product, or packaging design.

Nice to have

• Experience or interest in strategy, brand, digital interaction design, needfinding, coding, software development, AI-based visualization tools, or mechanical engineering.
