Substation Foreman

Location: Field-based work at construction job sites, primarily out of town during the workweek, with weekly overnight travel. Extended travel and emergency deployment for outages and storm recovery are common.

What you will do

• Lead crews safely and efficiently, including journeymen and apprentices.
• Construct, modify, install, maintain, and refit substation components.
• Install transformers, breakers, relay panels, bus assemblies, and other substation equipment.
• Work independently while coordinating tasks and maintaining safe work environments.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, Operations Coordinators, general foremen, and Superintendents.
• Respond to changing site conditions, emergencies, outages, and storm recovery work.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Four years of utility substation experience, including erecting steel, installing and maintaining devices, and wiring breakers.
• Strong leadership ability and experience working in a team environment.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals and blueprints.
• Class A CDL or ability to obtain one within 90 days.
• Ability to travel routinely with little notice, work weekly overnight trips, and perform strenuous physical labor in extreme heat, rain, cold, and other adverse field conditions.

Nice to have

• Technical degree or higher.
• Welding, heavy equipment operation, or NCCCO crane operator skills.
• Multiple years of experience as a substation journeyman.
