Superintendent, High Voltage

Location: St. Francisville, Louisiana, United States. On-site, project-based role.

What you will do

• Lead day-to-day high-voltage and substation field execution for a new data center build from mobilization through turnover.
• Supervise construction of substations and switchyards, including foundations, steel structures, bus work, breakers, transformers, disconnects, grounding grids, and control enclosures.
• Coordinate with the serving utility on interconnection scope, clearances, switching orders, planned outages, and work around energized facilities.
• Sequence and support relay, primary injection, Doble/Megger, and end-to-end protection testing with NETA firms and the Protection & Controls Engineer.
• Own energization readiness, including punch completion, test records, safety walkdowns, utility witness coordination, backfeed, and initial energization.
• Manage the HV look-ahead schedule, specialty subcontractors, testing firms, QC documentation, and turnover of HV systems to operations.

Requirements

• 7+ years supervising high-voltage substation, switchyard, or transmission construction at 69kV–345kV with a utility contractor, EPC, or utility construction organization.
• Hands-on knowledge of major equipment setting, bus fabrication, grounding grids, control wiring, and commissioning support.
• Direct experience coordinating utility outages, switching, clearances, energization, and work in or around energized facilities under utility rules.
• Familiarity with relay and protection testing sequences, NETA processes, end-to-end testing, and utility acceptance and witness requirements.
• Strong HV safety leadership covering switching and tagging, minimum approach distances, grounding and bonding, arc-flash boundaries, and induced-voltage controls.
• Experience managing specialty HV subcontractors and NETA testing firms, maintaining utility-acceptance documentation, and training adjacent trades on HV hazards.
