Distribution Designer I

Location: Windsor, Connecticut, with field work across northern Wisconsin; occasional regional or overnight travel and storm duty required.

Salary: USD $20.00–$27.38 per hour, with potential eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus.

What you will do

• Design overhead and underground electric distribution systems and support natural gas distribution projects.
• Collect field data, photographs, measurements, and utility system inventories using laptops, tablets, GPS, and database software.
• Prepare and modify field notes, electrical and roadway drawings, specifications, calculations, estimates, charts, reports, and construction drawing packages.
• Perform field technical services including inspections, audits, permitting, joint-use management, metering, lighting audits, and pad-mount and pole inspections.
• Maintain project documentation, databases, file management, production, and quality standards.
• Communicate design information and technical ideas with engineers, designers, supervisors, clients, agencies, and coworkers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree is acceptable but not required.
• At least 1 year of electric utility or telecommunications field experience preferred.
• Clear and valid driver’s license required; must be at least 21 years old.
• Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office, strong organization skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code, utility construction standards, and engineering software preferred.
• AutoCAD, PLS CADD, Field Maps, and related engineering software experience preferred; no certifications required.
