Lead Designer

Location: Hybrid schedule from the Springfield, Massachusetts office; work throughout Massachusetts.

What you will do

• Update GIS records to reflect current field conditions and verify maps and record drawings against field survey data.
• Design and process overhead and underground electric distribution construction work requests using utility standards and prescribed procedures.
• Prepare computer-assisted designs, construction drawings, distribution circuit designs, pole boring documents, cost estimates, and project reports.
• Track design activities in the project management system and stay current on client guideline changes.
• Meet with client engineers to define project scope and document pre-construction, pre-engineering, and pre-design meetings.
• Support field safety activities and storm restoration, including damage assessments and circuit patrols.

Requirements

• Associate degree in engineering, technology, or a trade certificate plus 2 years of related experience; 4 years of related experience may substitute for the degree.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to follow field safety procedures, including pre-job briefs and vehicle inspections.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with clients on project design responsibilities.
• Ability to adapt to change, remain flexible, and apply a questioning attitude.
• Ability to pass a background and credit check.

• NJUNS experience.
