TL;DR
Electronics Engineer - Senior Level (Automotive): Designing and developing electronic, mechatronic, and embedded systems for prototype and concept vehicles with an accent on vehicle electrification, autonomous vehicles, and unmanned platforms. Focus on high-voltage system design, complex electrical troubleshooting, wire harness architecture, and leading engineering projects from planning through execution.

Location: New Hudson, Michigan, United States; daytime Monday–Friday schedule with occasional travel for on-site customer work

Salary: $91,500–$148,100 per year

What you will do

  • Design and develop electronic, mechatronic, and embedded systems for prototype and concept vehicles.
  • Lead component selection, system architecture, control methods, and complex wire harness design.
  • Perform engineering analysis, problem solving, electrical troubleshooting, and system validation.
  • Create and approve engineering drawings and specifications, and develop new engineering processes and tools.
  • Lead electronics projects by developing work plans, budgets, schedules, proposals, and resource estimates.
  • Provide technical guidance to colleagues and collaborate with customers, design staff, and other departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in automotive, mechanical, computer, electrical engineering, or mechatronic systems.
  • At least 6 years of engineering experience.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals, complex analysis and problem-solving skills, and technical writing and communication abilities.
  • Experience with engineering drawings, specifications, electrical troubleshooting, and electronics tools such as oscilloscopes and voltmeters.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to work collaboratively with strong attention to detail.
  • Applicants may need to be U.S. Persons for access to controlled goods and technologies under ITAR or EAR regulations.

Nice to have

  • High-voltage, electric, hybrid, autonomous, and by-wire vehicle systems experience.
  • MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, Vector CAN, dSpace, CAD, Mentor Graphics Vesys, or Capital experience.
  • Knowledge of CAN, LIN, SPI, wireless 802.11, and Ethernet communication protocols.
  • Experience with high-voltage components, data acquisition, system reverse engineering, and PCB design.
  • Automotive, defense, or motorsports industry knowledge, project leadership, program management, and mentoring experience.
