TL;DR
Embedded Software Engineer (Automotive): Building and improving chassis control software for autonomous vehicles with an accent on functional safety, ECU integration, and vehicle-level validation. Focus on designing model-based software toolchains, developing on-vehicle and simulation test plans, and debugging control systems for Level 4 autonomous technology.

Location: Onsite at the Santa Clara, California office

Salary: $160,000–$260,000 per year

What you will do

  • Build and improve vehicle chassis control software for integration with common ECU hardware.
  • Develop functionally safe software according to automotive safety standards.
  • Design toolchains for integrating model-based application software with ECU firmware.
  • Coordinate software requirements, release plans, continuous integration, and vehicle and field testing.
  • Bring up autonomous vehicle builds, perform troubleshooting, verification, tuning, calibration, and test-data analysis.
  • Integrate and evaluate sensors, actuators, algorithms, and other hardware and software components for safety and performance.

Requirements

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in automotive engineering, computer engineering, electrical/electronics engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience with embedded automotive systems in ADAS/AD or vehicle chassis controls.
  • Experience developing safety-critical systems and working with ISO 26262, MISRA-C, AUTOSAR, or similar standards.
  • Experience creating automated software-generation toolchains.
  • Proficiency in C programming and Simulink-based modeling with MATLAB.
  • Experience with CAN networks, J1939, CAN FD, automotive Ethernet, and automotive testing and calibration tools such as CANalyzer, CANape, Kvaser, Raptor CAL, V-box, and ETAS INCA.

Nice to have

  • Experience with steering and brake controls.
  • Familiarity with dSPACE, vehicle-dynamics modeling, SiL/HiL setups, and automotive simulation tools such as TruckMaker.
  • Hands-on experience with vehicle and aerodynamics, powertrain, suspension, steering, braking, and tire modeling.
