Construction Estimator

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States; on-site. General work hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., five days per week, with possible changes based on critical work activities or safety supervision.

Salary: $85,000–$135,000 per year

What you will do

• Review proposal specifications and drawings to define project scope and estimate requirements.
• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and estimates for concrete, structures, earthwork, piling, and related disciplines.
• Lead and coordinate estimating efforts for assigned bids and projects.
• Research supplier pricing and incorporate historical purchase, subcontract, productivity, and labor-hour data.
• Solicit subcontractors and suppliers, maintain subcontractor relationships and databases, and attend pre-bid and outreach events.
• Support awarded contracts through change-order estimating, extra-work pricing, material procurement, and bid-document coordination.

Requirements

• B.S. in Engineering and/or 4–7 years of estimating, cost-control, or engineering experience in construction.
• Ability to estimate and coordinate different types of projects and lead estimating activities.
• Experience taking off and pricing concrete and earthwork projects.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and personnel simultaneously.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, leadership, and prioritization skills.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and other computer tools.
