Import-Export Compliance Expert (Biotech)

Location: Rijswijk, the Netherlands; hybrid schedule with 3 days onsite and 2 days working from home

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and oversee import-export control compliance programs covering EU, UK, and global regulations.
• Create and maintain compliance policies and procedures for multi-country operations, including production sites in China, Singapore, the US, and the EU.
• Review import-export documentation, maintain records, and manage daily customs classification operations.
• Classify products under EU and UK HS codes and explain classification principles to customs brokers, authorities, and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor regulatory changes, conduct risk assessments and internal audits, and recommend continuous improvements.
• Manage import-export licenses, renewals, exemptions, and relationships with logistics, legal, government, freight-forwarding, and supply-chain stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience managing import-export compliance programs, preferably in the EU and UK.
• Strong knowledge of EU customs regulations, export controls, and trade compliance laws; UK customs knowledge is beneficial.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• English and Dutch proficiency are required.

Nice to have

• Valid customs broker certificate or equivalent.
• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese.
