Medical Assistant - Float (Oncology)

Location: Norfolk, Virginia; in-person work with travel between sites in the region as needed.

Compensation: $16.88–$34.65 per hour.

What you will do

• Assist physicians and clinicians with patient care, examinations, and clinical procedures.
• Escort patients and support efficient patient flow between exam, office, and treatment rooms.
• Record vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medication changes, and other patient data before visits.
• Prepare patient records and coordinate tests, procedures, hospital admissions, and follow-up appointments.
• Arrange required pre-authorizations and pre-certifications.
• Complete additional administrative duties requested by the supervising physician or supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience, preferably in a multi-physician practice.
• Current knowledge of the medical assisting profession and healthcare industry.
• Willingness to travel between regional sites as needed.
• Medical Assistant program graduation certificate preferred; CMA certification strongly preferred.
• Ability to handle and lift patients, stand and walk for extended periods, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
