Terminal Operator (Oil/Petroleum)

Location: Carteret, New Jersey, United States. Onsite work with rotating shifts.

What you will do

• Handle petroleum products while following health, safety, security, environmental, and operational procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and maintain terminal equipment, automation systems, tanks, meters, gauges, valves, and pressure-control devices.
• Perform manual and automatic readings, sampling, calibration, quality assurance, and product-integrity checks.
• Complete work permits, lockout/tagout procedures, safety documentation, and regulatory records.
• Maintain terminal grounds and equipment through physical labor, housekeeping, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Coordinate with managers, project managers, peers, contractors, and marine, truck, and rail operations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years old and able to work rotating shifts of up to 16 hours, including occasional 24/7 on-call coverage.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, lift up to 50 pounds, and climb to heights of up to 50 feet.
• Mechanical aptitude, solid math skills, effective communication, and the ability to work with contractors.
• Basic to intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Successful completion of the pre-employment background check, drug and alcohol screening, application process, and Job Skills Test.

Nice to have

• Two years of pipeline or oil and petroleum industry experience.
• Post-secondary technical education or relevant terminal operations experience.
• Experience reading electrical and mechanical diagrams and working with pressure-control devices and valves.
• Experience with marine vessel loading and unloading activities.
