What you will do

  • Serve as the materials expert in developing next-generation radio-frequency absorbers.
  • Specify and modify polymer systems to meet target properties, including heat, UV, and chemical resistance.
  • Produce proof-of-concept and laboratory-scale samples for testing and evaluation.
  • Characterize material composition, molecular weight, and mechanical properties.
  • Support production transition by specifying equipment and developing production-scale processes.
  • Specify and source raw materials for in-house polymer synthesis.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of polymer modification and development experience, or a PhD in lieu of experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of thermoset polymer chemistry, particularly urethane, silicone, and epoxy systems.
  • Experience with spraying, casting, molding, and pressing production techniques.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required due to federal government contract restrictions.

Nice to have

  • Experience with fluorinated elastomer systems.
  • Experience with RF-absorbing or conductive polymer systems.
