Materials Development Scientist PhD (Materials Science)

Location: On-site at Winton Hill Business Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, 3–5 days per week; approximately 10% travel required.

Salary: $140,000 per year, plus bonus if applicable and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop material innovations for feminine care products by translating consumer needs into product solutions.
• Design, execute, and interpret experiments involving materials, product performance, feedstocks, and manufacturing processes.
• Partner with manufacturing plants to diagnose and resolve raw-material technical issues.
• Collaborate with suppliers and external technical partners to develop, qualify, and sustain raw-material supply chains.
• Lead or support raw-material qualification, cost optimization, and business continuity initiatives.
• Apply digital, data-driven, modeling, simulation, and automation approaches to improve materials innovation workflows.

Requirements

• PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field.
• Strong foundation in materials science and experience applying analytical, data science, data analytics, and statistical methods.
• Ability to conduct hands-on experimental research, test technical hypotheses, and convert data into actionable insights.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with multifunctional teams, suppliers, universities, and technical service providers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, curiosity, adaptability, and ownership.
• Ability to work on-site at Winton Hill Business Center 3–5 days per week and travel approximately 10%.

Nice to have

• Publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
• Coding and experience with modeling and simulation tools such as GeoDict or Abaqus.
• Experience developing and implementing AI solutions.
