Director Major Projects (Transmission)

Location: New Albany, Ohio, United States; work may take place at offices, power plants, and transmission construction sites. Travel is typically 50% or less, and the role may require living at the project location during execution phases.

Salary: $188,524–$245,080 per year, plus annual bonus and long-term incentive.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end execution of complex high-voltage transmission projects with budgets from $1 billion to $10 billion.
• Direct cross-functional teams, contractors, EPC partners, consultants, and joint-venture partners.
• Manage safety, integrated schedules, budgets, forecasts, contingencies, change control, and executive risk registers.
• Develop commercial and contracting strategies and negotiate contractor, EPC, and engineering agreements.
• Lead regulatory readiness, filings, hearings, stakeholder engagement, and approvals.
• Report project performance and strategic requirements to executive leadership while resolving technical, commercial, and organizational issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, project management, accounting, finance, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of qualified experience, including work in two or more major project, construction, project management, portfolio management, commissioning, project controls, generation, or contract negotiation areas.
• Progressive responsibility, strong business acumen, and demonstrated leadership capability.
• PMP certification and a valid state driver’s license required.
• Ability to travel, perform construction site walkdowns, work in varying site conditions, and support projects that may involve hazardous areas or radiation exposure within applicable limits.
• Ability to communicate clearly through reports and presentations to senior management.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a related business, engineering, project management, finance, accounting, or construction discipline.
• Experience with 345–765 kV transmission, underground, HVDC, or submarine projects.
• Experience with RTOs such as PJM, MISO, SPP, or ERCOT and state utility commission applications.
• Experience with environmental applications involving USACE, USFWS, or NEPA.
• Direct supervision, executive communications, and contracting or commercial strategy experience.
