Backend Software Engineer (Java/GCP)

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support backend applications, REST APIs, and microservices using Java.
• Build and maintain cloud-based services using GCP and manage deployments to cloud or on-premises environments.
• Collaborate with customers, product owners, designers, architects, and front-end developers to deliver application solutions.
• Monitor application health and performance, improve resiliency, and support disaster recovery and security hardening.
• Manage data storage and retrieval across Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, and other database technologies.
• Improve development practices through test-driven development, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and responsible use of AI.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, 5+ years of IT experience, and 3+ years of software development experience.
• Professional experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST API development, backend applications, application design, and testing.
• Experience with GCP, cloud computing, and GCP Cloud Run.
• Experience with JUnit, databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or MongoDB, and full-stack application development.
• Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD practices, plus knowledge of API development, security concepts, and Zero Trust.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in Dearborn, Michigan, communicate clearly, solve complex problems, and manage responsibilities independently.

Nice to have

• Experience with GitHub Actions, cloud security, IAM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, UX, and gap analysis.
• Technical communication skills and experience supporting product users.
• Ability to identify improvement opportunities and demonstrate thought leadership.
