TL;DR
Associate Application Programmer / Java Developer (Java/Spring Boot/AWS): Developing, testing, and maintaining Java applications and modern web services for DHS legacy-system modernization with an accent on REST APIs, CI/CD, cloud deployments, and database integration. Focus on translating mission-critical functionality into a modern platform architecture, remediating code-quality findings, and supporting application troubleshooting.
Location: Telework; US citizenship is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

What you will do
- Develop, test, debug, and maintain Java applications using Spring Boot, RESTful services, MVC, and modern web technologies.
- Contribute across the software development lifecycle within agile and CI/CD environments.
- Analyze user requirements and translate mission-critical legacy functionality into modern platform-based architecture for DHS.
- Develop unit tests, remediate SonarQube findings, and maintain technical documentation and user-support materials.
- Support Jenkins/CloudBees and Git-based CI/CD processes, AWS deployments, infrastructure automation, and application monitoring.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and periodically assist with Help Desk support for end users.
Requirements
- US citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least 1 year of application or Java development experience.
- Strong proficiency with Java 8+, Spring Boot, RESTful web services, MVC, and JDBC.
- Experience with React, Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, JSON, Node, Struts, Maven, and JQuery.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, AWS, CI/CD, Linux and Windows environments, and infrastructure automation.
Nice to have
- Current DHS Public Trust Suitability.
- Familiarity with MQ or Kafka, AppDynamics, DataDog, Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, and cross-platform interoperability.
