Lead Software Engineer (Kotlin)

Location: Madrid, Spain; hybrid working

Salary: EUR 60,000–100,000 base salary per year, plus performance-based variable compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Drive and deliver multi-quarter, cross-domain engineering initiatives with Senior Engineering Managers and cross-functional leads.
• Lead technical grooming, story preparation, estimation, and delivery planning for complex features and domain work.
• Shape technical proposals and RFCs, communicate architecture decisions, and guide proposals through CTO-level decision-making.
• Design and develop high-quality features while improving logging, error handling, documentation, API clarity, and overall domain quality.
• Provide domain expertise on architecture and integration impacts while maintaining disciplined delivery practices.
• Mentor engineers across multiple teams and strengthen technical capabilities and cross-domain collaboration.

Requirements

• Strong technical depth in several components of the backend and frontend technology stack.
• Proven ability to lead complex engineering efforts and own domain quality and cross-domain delivery.
• Experience with Kotlin, Java, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, Apache Kafka, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, AWS, React, and TypeScript.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, product, architecture, and operations teams.
• Technical leadership, mentoring, ownership, accountability, and an entrepreneurial improvement mindset.
• Ability to maintain engineering discipline, clear documentation, and high delivery predictability.
