Environmental Field Chemist I

Location: Baltimore, Maryland, USA; work at customer sites and willingness to travel are required

Pay range: $26.65–$36.62 per hour, depending on hiring locality.

hirify.global is a large environmental services company providing recycling, waste management, hazardous waste, special waste, and field services across North America.

What you will do

• Collect, characterize, package, and prepare customer waste for final disposal.
• Assist with the safe transportation of waste in accordance with federal regulations.
• Prepare and maintain packing lists, waste labels, shipping documents, and other customer paperwork.
• Support customer-site inspections, waste collection, chemical dispensing, inventory management, housekeeping, and outbound waste shipments.
• Identify suspected waste contents through internal sampling procedures, categorization tests, and field screens.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, environmental science, or equivalent experience.
• Basic knowledge of chemistry principles and practices.
• Understanding of federal and state environmental and transportation regulations.
• Valid driver’s license and an MVR meeting company policy standards.
• Ability to pass respirator fit-test certification and regularly lift or move objects weighing 40 pounds or more.
• Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with an 8-hour refresher, or ability to complete the course after hire.

Nice to have

• DOT and RCRA experience.
• Experience with waste sampling, waste characterizations, and waste profiles.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, documentation, and customer-service skills.
