Environmental Technician

Location: New York, New York; onsite work in the New York office and travel throughout all five boroughs, with travel outside New York City as needed

Salary: USD $27.97–$35.00 per hour

What you will do

• Support lead, asbestos, mold, Legionella, industrial hygiene, and related environmental services.
• Work independently, with project teams, or under direct supervision at active project sites.
• Collect accurate field data, information, photographs, samples, and daily activity logs.
• Operate and maintain air sampling pumps, XRF instruments, and other scientific equipment.
• Transport field logs, samples, and equipment between project sites, laboratories, and offices.
• Participate in pre-job safety meetings, job safety assessments, and the company health and safety program.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; education in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or Engineering is preferred.
• Ability to learn new technologies and applications, follow instructions, communicate with project teams, and maintain strong organization.
• Ability to work alternate shifts, including overnight and weekend shifts when needed.
• Ability to stand, walk, perform repetitive motions, climb ladders, use hand and power tools, and lift 20 pounds regularly and up to 60 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to use personal protective equipment, including tight-fitting respirators, and pass background, drug, and motor vehicle records checks.
• Experience with Viken Pb200i, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to read construction plans.

Nice to have

• Dust Wipe Sampling Technician, US EPA Lead Inspector, US EPA Risk Assessor, NYSDOL Asbestos Inspector or Monitor, Asbestos Investigator, or NYSDOL Mold Assessor certification.
• Experience with water quality measurements, water sampling, and biological or chemical laboratory analyses.
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a scientific discipline.
