Environmental Scientist/Industrial Hygiene Inspector

Location: Windsor, Connecticut, United States; travel throughout Connecticut is expected.

Salary: USD $21.63–$25.18 per hour.

What you will do

• Inspect buildings for asbestos, lead-based paint, PCBs, and other hazardous materials.
• Conduct indoor air quality inspections, water intrusion investigations, and mold assessments.
• Coordinate project oversight with contractors and communicate with clients and regulatory representatives.
• Operate and maintain sampling pumps, calibrators, microscopes, and related instruments.
• Collect samples, complete field documentation and chain-of-custody forms, and prepare materials for laboratory shipment.
• Read project specifications and drawings, maintain daily project logs, and prepare reports.

Requirements

• 0–3 years of experience in hazardous building materials, indoor air quality, or industrial hygiene.
• Associate degree required; bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Health and Safety, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to read project specifications and drawings.
• Strong verbal communication, adaptability, teamwork, and a consultative approach to client interactions.
• Ability to carry equipment, climb ladders, use hand and power tools, and wear respirators, safety harnesses, and other protective equipment.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to pass background, drug, and motor vehicle records checks.

Nice to have

• Experience with abatement projects.
• CT Licensed Asbestos Inspector or Asbestos Project Monitor certification.
• Lead Inspector, Indoor Air Quality, OSHA 40 HAZWOPER, or OSHA 10/30 training.
