Automation Technician II (Robotics/Mechatronics)

What you will do

• Program, troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize ABB and Yaskawa robotic systems for arc welding, material handling, and painting.
• Support automated fabrication and CNC equipment, including plasma and laser cutting systems, press brakes, and machining centers.
• Perform advanced PLC troubleshooting and programming on Allen-Bradley and Rockwell Automation platforms.
• Configure and troubleshoot servo drives, VFDs, motion control systems, and HMI systems.
• Support equipment commissioning, startups, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects while conducting root-cause analysis.
• Partner with engineering, maintenance, and operations to improve reliability, provide technical guidance, and mentor other automation technicians.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED plus formal trades training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 3 years of industrial maintenance and/or automation experience.
• Advanced knowledge of electricity, motor controls, instrumentation, PLC hardware and software, robotics, automation, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with preventative maintenance, maintenance planning, system analysis, and advanced troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of arc flash ratings and precautions, lockout/tagout procedures, electrical prints, schematics, and one-line diagrams.
• Ability to respond to emergency work requests and follow safety procedures and good manufacturing practices.

Nice to have

• Associate degree or certification in electrical, mechanical, automation, industrial maintenance technology, or electronics.
• Advanced robotic programming and integration experience with ABB or Yaskawa systems.
• Experience with AGVs or AMRs and automation platforms such as Siemens, GE, Horner, or Opto22.
• Knowledge of Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, Modbus, HART, DH+/485, and ASCII networking protocols.
• Ability to lead technical problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives independently and collaboratively.
