Legal Counsel (AI)

Salary: $125,520–$175,520 per year, depending on education, experience, skills, geographical location, and internal equity.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial technology agreements supporting North American sales activity.
• Advise the business on cloud services, software licensing, professional services, maintenance, and support agreements.
• Analyze transaction and product risks and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
• Support new go-to-market products, including AI-focused offerings, and research emerging technologies and business models.
• Update contract templates, streamline legal processes, create efficiencies, and deliver training.
• Collaborate with sales, marketing, development, management, subject-matter experts, and internal clients while managing legal projects and escalations.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited institution.
• Admission to practice law in at least one Canadian province.
• 4+ years of experience conducting contract negotiations, preferably involving technology.
• Strong commercial legal experience in an in-house legal department or law firm.
• Hands-on experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on software licensing, hosted or cloud-based products, professional services, maintenance, and support agreements.
• Knowledge of the IT sector, commercial sales transactions, risk mitigation, and the use, contracting, and regulation of GenAI systems.
