Transmission Line Mechanic C-A (Transmission)

Location: Texarkana, Texas; successful candidates must reside within a 30-minute drive of the Texarkana Service Center under normal driving conditions.

Salary: $34.69–$56.36 per hour, depending on classification: Line Mechanic C $34.69/hour, B $40.84/hour, and A $53.36/hour.

What you will do

• Install, maintain, repair, rearrange, operate, remove, and inspect de-energized transmission and distribution facilities.
• Patrol transmission lines, identify abnormal conditions, prepare right-of-way documentation, and report unsafe conditions.
• Install and repair overhead lines, poles, towers, guy anchorages, conductors, shield wires, splices, dead-ends, and terminals.
• Assemble and frame structures on the ground and in the air, perform climbing maintenance, and use ropes, rigging, hand signals, and line-work tools.
• Operate motor-driven tools, truck-mounted lifting and pulling devices, automotive equipment, and load or unload poles, steel, and other materials.
• Assist with live-line tools, bare-hand techniques, rubber gloves, and sleeves under the direct supervision of a qualified person; attend training and maintain work records.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• For Line Mechanic C: at least one year of transmission electrical power line experience, or qualifying power-line education with internship experience.
• For Line Mechanic B: at least two years of experience as a Line Mechanic C or equivalent.
• For Line Mechanic A: completed apprentice lineman training with B-200 certification and practical demonstrations, or at least four years of line-work experience for external candidates.
• Valid Class A CDL is required.
• Ability to meet heavy physical demands, including lifting, carrying, climbing structures, working at elevation, walking, and distinguishing colors; a physical abilities assessment is required.
