TL;DR
Stormwater Engineer (Hydrology/Drainage): Preparing hydraulic and hydrology studies, drainage reports, construction plans, and technical documents for stormwater, roadway drainage, and municipal sewer projects with an accent on H&H analysis, floodplain mapping, and regulatory compliance. Focus on designing drainage systems, coordinating construction and multidisciplinary work, developing cost estimates, and mentoring junior staff.

Location: Hybrid role based in Draper, Utah, with office work and project site visits

Salary: $100,000–$140,000 per year, depending on experience; candidates with significant experience may be considered above this range.

What you will do

  • Prepare hydraulic and hydrology studies, drainage reports, technical memorandums, and engineering documentation.
  • Develop stormwater management, roadway drainage, municipal sewer, and floodplain mapping plans.
  • Perform H&H calculations using applicable codes, standards, formulas, and engineering judgment.
  • Prepare construction plans, specifications, and probable construction cost estimates.
  • Review designs and reports, support project management and scheduling, and coordinate with contractors and other engineering disciplines.
  • Observe construction activities and mentor junior staff and designers.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of stormwater, hydrology and hydraulics, and drainage experience.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in construction management, civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Proficiency in OpenRoads, Civil 3D, or AutoCAD; training is available for engineers without OpenRoads experience.
  • Experience with floodplain mapping and analysis for FEMA and local agencies.
  • Ability to work in an office environment and attend project sites, including occasional exposure to inclement weather, noise, hazards, and bodies of water.

Nice to have

  • UDOT project experience.
  • Experience with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, StormCAD, or similar software.
