Transportation - Engineering Designer

Location: Draper, Utah, United States; hybrid work between the office and field

Salary: $70,000–$105,000 per year, depending on experience

What you will do

• Support the design and delivery of local, county, and state roadway projects, including UDOT highway projects.
• Develop typical sections, horizontal and vertical alignments, profiles, layouts, and cross-sections.
• Prepare design documentation, plan sets, reports, and quantity calculations.
• Perform engineering calculations and develop cost estimates.
• Monitor design work for compliance with engineering standards, codes, and best practices.
• Support projects including urban roadway reconstruction, intersection improvements, roundabouts, highway preservation, and multi-use trails.

Requirements

• 2+ years of civil engineering experience, preferably in transportation or roadway design.
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• Engineer-in-Training certification, or the ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe; the FE exam must be passed or scheduled.
• Proficiency with Bentley OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, Civil 3D, or AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
• Ability to work in office and field environments, with occasional exposure to weather, noise, hazards, and bodies of water; ability to handle physical demands including lifting up to 35 lbs.
