Stem Cell Research Scientist

Location: Boston, MA; on-site five days per week, with periodic weekend work based on business needs.

Salary: $104,200–$156,200 base salary per year, plus eligibility for annual bonus and equity awards.

What you will do

• Design, execute, and analyze complex in vitro and ex vivo experiments using primary islets and stem cell-derived islet models.
• Develop and optimize phenotypic and physiological cell-based assays for islet biology and novel type 1 diabetes cell therapy assets.
• Maintain, expand, and differentiate pluripotent stem cells through extended differentiation campaigns.
• Apply molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques to characterize stem cell-derived models and evaluate experimental outcomes.
• Collaborate with Pharmacology, Computational Genomics, BSMO, and other research teams on translational and preclinical programs.
• Document experiments, interpret biological datasets, prepare scientific reports and presentations, and support protocol troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or equivalent in molecular and cell biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, or a related discipline, with 0–3 years of relevant postdoctoral experience; alternatively, a relevant master’s degree with 3+ years or bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience.
• Hands-on experience with pluripotent stem cells and directed differentiation protocols.
• Experience with in vivo or ex vivo disease models and cell-based functional assays.
• Experience with molecular biology methods including scRNA-seq, flow cytometry, Western blotting, and immunohistochemistry.
• Knowledge of developmental biology, transcriptomics, single-cell analysis, and relevant scientific literature.
• Ability to work on-site in Boston five days per week and periodically on weekends.

• Experience supporting drug discovery or translational research in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting.
