TL;DR
Senior Scientist, In Vivo Pharmacology (Cell Therapy and Immunology): Designing and executing in vivo proof-of-concept, pharmacology, and mechanism-of-action studies for iPSC-derived thymic cell therapies with an accent on preclinical mouse models, immune profiling, and translational biomarker strategies. Focus on evaluating efficacy, safety, biodistribution, persistence, and immune mechanisms while generating data packages for candidate selection and IND-enabling development.

Location: Fully onsite in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States, with occasional weekend work.

Salary: $127,500–$170,000 per year.

Company

Biotechnology organization developing pharmaceutical therapies for rare diseases, manufactured transplantable organs, and machine learning-driven iPSC-derived thymic cell therapies.

What you will do

  • Design, execute, and interpret in vivo studies evaluating the efficacy, safety, pharmacology, biodistribution, persistence, and mechanism of action of iPSC-derived thymic cell products.
  • Develop and refine mouse models for immune reconstitution, immunosenescence, aging, and immune tolerance.
  • Investigate thymic regeneration, T-cell development, immune tolerance, and immunosenescence using cellular and molecular approaches.
  • Implement high-dimensional immune profiling, including flow cytometry, RNA sequencing, and functional immunological assays, and develop translational biomarker strategies.
  • Generate robust proof-of-concept, pharmacology, and mechanism-of-action data packages to support candidate selection and nonclinical development.
  • Collaborate with research, process development, analytical development, regulatory, project, and leadership teams; communicate results and mentor junior scientists.

Requirements

  • PhD in immunology, stem cell biology, regenerative medicine, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience developing preclinical models and independently designing and executing in vivo mouse studies.
  • Strong knowledge of immunology, thymus biology, T-cell development, immune reconstitution, and immune tolerance.
  • Hands-on expertise in rodent handling, tissue collection and dissection, multiple administration routes, and primary human and murine cell and tissue culture.
  • Experience with immunological assays, multicolor flow cytometry, qPCR or ddPCR, histology, ELISA/MSD, statistical analysis, and experimental troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative biotech environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience with nonclinical development, IND-enabling studies, regulatory authoring, proof-of-concept, pharmacology, mechanism-of-action, or translational studies.
  • Knowledge of immunosenescence, age-related immune dysfunction, tumor immunology, autoimmunity, and transplantation immunology or tolerance.
  • Scientific publications or intellectual property contributions.

Culture & Benefits

  • Mission-driven work focused on unmet medical needs and life-threatening diseases.
  • Medical, dental, vision, prescription, wellness, disability, and savings plan benefits.
  • 401(k), employee stock purchase plan, paid time off, and paid parental leave.
  • Collaborative, rigorous, and fast-paced biotechnology environment.
