Scientist (Gene Editing)

Location: Bridgewater, New Jersey, United States; full-time, in-person presence required.

Salary: $103,000–$131,000 annual.

What you will do

• Collaborate with the gene editing and broader research teams to evaluate therapy candidate properties and function.
• Design and produce novel gene editing therapy candidates.
• Develop cell-based biological assays and support the early-stage research pipeline.
• Author and review protocols, electronic notebook entries, technical reports, and scientific publications.
• Maintain accurate documentation of experimental procedures and results.
• Present research results to peers and management in written and oral formats.

Requirements

• PhD in a Life Science discipline, conferred by September 2026.
• Expert knowledge and demonstrable hands-on experience in molecular biology, including PCR, cloning, protein expression, mutagenesis, and genetic engineering.
• Demonstrable hands-on experience independently designing experiments or developing assays, including troubleshooting, optimization, and data analysis.
• Hands-on experience culturing different types of cells, including transfection and cell-based assays.
• Entrepreneurial spirit, openness to learning, proactive problem-solving attitude, and willingness to take on new challenges.
• Strong self-motivation and independence combined with a positive approach to teamwork.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Full-time, in-person presence at the Bridgewater, NJ research facility.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with flow cytometry.
• Hands-on experience with NGS workflows, including library construction.
• Hands-on experience designing and executing high-throughput screens.
• Hands-on experience with protein purification and enzymatic assays.
