TL;DR

Focus on learning machine performance evaluation, installing and testing equipment, completing inspections and documentation, and undertaking a four-year practical and theoretical apprenticeship.

Location: Kewdale, Western Australia, Australia; onsite workshop role

JLG, an Oshkosh company, provides access equipment, training, and support, including mobile elevating work platforms, telehandlers, utility vehicles, and accessories.

What you will do

  • Assist workshop technicians with pre-delivery inspections, servicing, repairs, and maintenance of elevating work platforms, telehandlers, and lighting towers.
  • Learn to evaluate machine performance and inspect designs and finished products against specifications.
  • Assist with installing, testing, repairing, and modifying electronic and hydraulic equipment.
  • Complete scheduled three-monthly and annual machine inspections in line with JLG and Australian industry standards.
  • Complete job paperwork, inspection forms, cleaning, sanding, painting, and other workshop duties.
  • Follow site-specific workplace health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Requirements

  • Commitment to a four-year apprenticeship combining on-the-job training with block theory and practical training through a registered training organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions, and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient language, literacy, and numeracy skills for writing job notes, reading safety information and machine manuals, and handling basic calculations.
  • Mature, reliable, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Mechanical interest or previous exposure to mechanics, electrics, or hydraulics is preferred.
