Field Service Apprentice (Electronics)

Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia; travel to metropolitan, regional, and remote customer sites with overnight stays required

This is a full-time, four-year apprenticeship combining weekly TAFE training with practical field service experience and a pathway to a full-time technical career.

What you will do

• Attend weekly TAFE training and complete the Certificate III in Electrical Fitting requirements.
• Support the installation, servicing, preventative maintenance, and repair of X-ray and trace detection systems.
• Assist with fault diagnosis across mechanical, electrical systems up to 24V, and electronic components.
• Use multimeters, laptops, and embedded software for equipment testing and diagnostics.
• Replace mechanical components, support spare parts and warehouse activities, and maintain service documentation and compliance records.
• Progress to semi-autonomous work and join the on-call roster from the second year.

Requirements

• Completed high school or equivalent education.
• Genuine interest in electronics, electrical systems, and hands-on technical work.
• Willingness to enrol in Certificate III in Electrical Fitting through TAFE.
• Learner, provisional, or full driver’s licence.
• Ability to obtain required security clearances and flexibility to travel across varied environments.
• Strong willingness to learn, with a proactive and team-oriented mindset.
