Technical Officer (Mechanical Workshop)

Location: hirify.global Brisbane South (Nathan) campus, Brisbane, Australia; work may also be required across other university locations.

Salary: AUD 82,415.66–92,456.55 base salary plus 17% superannuation; full package range AUD 96,426.31–108,174.16.

What you will do

• Manufacture, modify, maintain and repair mechanical equipment and components for teaching, research and consultancy activities.
• Interpret technical drawings and specifications to fabricate, machine and weld specialised equipment.
• Provide technical advice and hands-on support to staff and students developing equipment and prototypes.
• Diagnose faults and perform maintenance and repairs on workshop and university equipment.
• Train staff and students in the safe use of workshop tools, machinery and processes.
• Maintain workshop records, inventory and procurement activities while supporting safe, compliant and efficient operations.

Requirements

• Recognised trade qualification in fitting and turning, mechanical engineering trades, metal fabrication or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications, training and practical experience.
• Practical experience operating workshop machinery and fabrication equipment, including lathes, milling machines, saws, grinders, presses and welding equipment.
• Ability to collaborate with staff and students and provide effective technical guidance and customer service.
• Ability to work primarily at the Brisbane South (Nathan) campus and, when required, across other university locations.
