Apprentice (Mobile Plant Technology)

What you will do

• Assist workshop technicians with servicing and repairing elevating work platforms, telehandlers, and lighting towers.
• Carry out pre-delivery inspections and assess machine performance and operating condition.
• Assist with installing, testing, repairing, and modifying electronic and hydraulic equipment.
• Support scheduled three-monthly and annual machine inspections in line with JLG and Australian industry standards.
• Complete required paperwork, inspection forms, job notes, and customer or site documentation.
• Maintain a clean and safe workshop, including sanding, painting, and general trade assistant duties.

Requirements

• Commitment to a four-year apprenticeship combining on-the-job training with block theory and practical training through a registered training organization.
• Willingness to complete a Certificate III in Elevating Work Platforms or Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology.
• Effective written and verbal communication, listening skills, and the ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient language, literacy, and numeracy skills for reading safety information and machine manuals and completing job documentation.
• Mature, reliable, detail-oriented, and able to manage changing priorities.

Nice to have

• Practical interest or previous experience in mechanics, electrics, or hydraulics, such as working on cars or motorbikes.
• Strong time-management and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
