Maintenance Mechanic Jr. (Energy)

Location: Cresap, West Virginia, United States; onsite plant work

Compensation: $33.34–$34.86 per hour

What you will do

• Diagnose, dismantle, overhaul, reassemble, install, and repair plant equipment including boilers, pulverizers, generators, turbines, valves, motors, pumps, compressors, and conveyors.
• Fabricate and install pipes and fittings, repair insulation, and use vibration and thermal testing equipment for equipment assessment and balancing.
• Operate shop and portable machine tools, perform general machining, and produce accurate measurements.
• Perform non-code arc and oxyacetylene welding, brazing, and soldering on equipment that does not require certification.
• Assist with electrical equipment maintenance, equipment clearances, permits, tagging, switching, and plant start-up and shutdown operations.
• Perform rigging, scaffolding, carpentry, masonry, painting, mobile equipment operation, emergency response, recordkeeping, and employee training support.

Requirements

• Two-year associate degree in engineering technology, industrial technology, energy technology, or an equivalent qualification.
• Alternatively, two years of military experience or an associate degree outside the field, plus the required maintenance-line-of-progression qualifications and job demonstrations.
• Normally, 2,080 hours as a Maintenance Mechanic Jr. or equivalent, and the ability to pass a required examination.
• Working knowledge of plant equipment, maintenance practices, tools, rigging, scaffolding, blocking, safety procedures, and operating instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret complex prints and specifications and to lead, direct, and coordinate work.
• Must possess the appropriate state driver license and maintain required certifications and licenses. Physical demand level is medium, including climbing, working at heights, standing or walking for up to 12 hours, and lifting or exerting up to 50 pounds.
